Peer coaching is a research-based learning strategy that offers a wide range of benefits for both the coach and the coachee. It places students on the same side, provides immediate feedback, enhances communication skills, and serves as a powerful tool for reinforcing knowledge and skills. But simply telling students to coach each other is not enough. For coaching to be effective, students need clear instructions on how to do it properly. Importantly, there are two different coaching methods for two different objectives. 3R Coaching is best when the objective is to help students remember facts and information. 3T Coaching works best when the goal is to learn new procedures or develop skills. This SmartCard explains how and when to use these two, three-step coaching methods and serves as a handy reference to help you implement both in your classroom. Leverage the power of peer coaching with 3R and 3T Coaching.
