Introducing Kate Potter

Kate Potter

Kate Potter,

Kate Potter works full-time as a Spanish and French teacher in a large Academy in the North West and has been teaching for eight years. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted she has taken on a number of roles during her career so far including: Subject Leader for French, PGCE mentor and most recently Lead Teacher for Teaching and Learning. As well as leading new initiatives for Teaching and Learning, Kate also plays an important role in the MFL department, notably in the organising and leading of trips abroad to both France and Spain. She has taken part in 26 school trips abroad since joining the school as an NQT and language teaching remains an integral part of her role at school.

Kate has been to the Kagan Summer Academy in Florida for training in Kagan Cooperative Learning days 1-5 and then undertook further development with T2TUK with ‘Training the Trainer’ which has meant she’s now able to regularly train her colleagues in Kagan Cooperative Learning. Last year, Kate completed an MA in Education (University of Lancaster) and the research for the final year dissertation was based on teacher perspectives of Cooperative Learning at her school. Currently Kate is undertaking further professional development with the National College. In her free time and holidays, Kate enjoys mountaineering, travelling and practising her language skills!

“Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it’s the only thing.”
Albert Schweitzer
